Healthy Drinking Is Important Too

BY HEALTHY EATING
It's not uncommon to find a person who can't understand why they're unable to become healthy, and hates the fact that even though they're eating all the right stuff, their weight hangs around the "few pounds overweight" barrier. They'll tell you all that and wonder what they're doing wrong, but in the next few seconds, they'll take a gulp from a can of soda or a glass of beer, and admit that it is their fifth drink of the night. But what many forget, is that dieting is not just about what you eat, but also what you drink. It is impossible to maintain a healthy diet whilst continuing to gulp down soda or alcoholic beverages on a consistent basis.
For some, it is unthinkable to stop drinking these things entirely, however we should always take small steps to achieve this end goal. Weight gain and difficulties with weight loss are often down to what you drink as much as what you eat. If you are drinking a bottle of wine a day, or a family-sized bottle of soda a day, we are overloading our bodies with unnecessary amounts of sugars. A surplus of sugars is stored by our body as fats, and this is why many people often fail with weight loss.

If you have to have a drink with food, then often a glass of water will be the best option. There are more reasons for this than just the weight issue. A glass of water will keep you from getting thirsty and will help you enjoy the meal, but will not interfere with the taste. And if you are thirsty, a glass of water is the best thing you can drink – it replenishes the body’s hydration levels and allows you to enjoy the occasional glass of wine or soda more, because you get to really savor the taste.
